About Us
History:
In 2010, a local networking group of critical care Registered Dietitians (RDs) was established in Toronto. Critical care RDs play a critical role in providing medical nutritional support therapies to critically ill patients. The primary goal of this group was to facilitate networking and knowledge-sharing through peer-to-peer presentations. Initially led by Kristen MacEachern from Mount Sinai Hospital, followed by Judy King from Southlake Hospital, the group has grown significantly over time. Since the Spring of 2021, Elaine Lo has served as the Chair of the group.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the transfer of patients from other provinces and central Ontario to remote regions of the country led to the expansion of this group across Canada. Today, the group, now known as the Canadian ICU Registered Dietitian Networking Group, has over 300 members and continues to evolve to meet the needs of the critically ill patient population.

The Canadian ICU Registered Dietitian Networking Group is dedicated to fostering a collaborative community of critical care dietitians across Canada. Our mission is to support the delivery of exceptional nutritional care to critically ill patients by promoting knowledge exchange, professional development, and best practices through networking, peer-to-peer presentations, and ongoing education. We strive to enhance the collective expertise of our members, advancing the role of dietitians in the critical care and ensuring optimal patient outcomes across the country.
